Youth and Young Adults

The Fox Valley youth and young adult (FV Y&YA) group range from the ages of 18-mid 30's. In 2008 we begun with the motto of "Standing together stetching out". In 2009 as we keep growing in Christ "Standing together stretching out" will again be our motto.

Standing together encourages the youth and the young adults to get to know one another within the group and to support one another with physical or spiritual struggles. Stretching out is the concept of reaching out to family, friends or work mates and showing them God's love and who His is.

"This is my prayer for you:
that your love will grow more and more;
that you will have knowledge and understanding with your love;
that you will see the difference between good and bad and choose good;
that you will be pure and without wrong for the coming of Christ;
that you will do many good things with the help of Christ to bring glory and praise to God."

Throughout the year, specially planned events and programs are organised to encourage the FV Y&YA group to act on the motto of "Standing together stretching out". These events and programs for 2009 enable spiritual growth and community, they include:

SOCIALS

Socials are a big event each month for all youth and young adults. Socials are lots fun and a great opportunity to bring friends along who don't usually go to church events.

CAMPS

In 2008 there were two camps, a winter one to Crosslands and a spring camp to Birubi beach. Camps give the opportunity to get out of Sydney for the weekend and enjoy being outdoors. They are a great way to spend time with each other and get to know one another outside of church, plus they are loads of fun!

SABBATH SCHOOL

Each Sabbath "S.S on the deck" is held on the deck of the church at 10am till 10:40am. Everyone is welcome to join. "S.S on the deck" involves an icebreaker, prayer and study on a certain topic which involves scripture based discussion, followed by nibbles.

OUTREACH

In 2008 FV Y&YA ran a STORMCo in Redfern with Mt Druitt church. For 5 days the STORMCo involved running a kid's club at the Way SDA church on the Block and the community project of painting. As well as STORMCo FV Y&YA orchastrated a Week of Outreach in Redfern, ending the week of meetings and teen mentoring excursions with a Gospel Concert. In 2009 FV Y&YA will continue to be heavily involved with Redfern projects, also with projects in our church's local area.

SMALL GROUPS

Small groups are a new and exciting initative at Fox Valley. The Fox Valley leaders really believe in small groups as a way to grow in God. Small groups help you to connect, discuss, discover, and learn- with people you trust. It is our hope at Fox Valley that everyone will be connected to a small group in 2009 as it is the place to find belonging and to have intellectual discussions with peers.
